“PPP – the model for success in public health sector and wastewater treatment” Conference, 27.1.2014.

The Agency for Public Private Partnership has organized jointly with the Embassy of Canada to Croatia in Zagreb and Centre for monitoring of business activities in the energy sector and investments the Conference “PPP – the model for success in public health sector and wastewater treatment”. The Conference has been held in Zagreb on Monday, 27th January 2014 in the Hotel Doubletree by Hilton.

Canada is world leader in PPP’s and Croatia a leader in the region. Over the years Canada’s PPPs market landscape has evolved considerably and has established Canada as one of the world’s most stable and significant P3 markets in both volume and capital size of transactions with 206 procured.  The increased adoption of PPPs can be attributed to the creation of dedicated P3 agencies at the provincial (Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec) and federal level.  The projects are procured in sectors like water infrastructure, waste water infrastructure, public transit infrastructure, railways, roads, air and maritime transport, green energy infrastructure, culture infrastructure, connectivity and broadband infrastructure etc.

The Canadian experts have presented characteristics of the Canadian P3 model and key factors leading to the private sector involvement in public infrastructure development. At the panel session, the panellists have discussed the questions related to the investment program form the public sector point of view, important factors for private investments in emerging markets, Croatian experience in PPP project implementation in the City of Koprivnica as well as Canadian experience in the public health sector, water management and wastewater treatment.
