On the 1st of June 2022, the European Commission assessed in its 2022 Convergence Report that Croatia fulfils all the criteria for joining the euro area and proposed to the Council that Croatia adopts the euro on the 1st of January 2023.
The Council will make the final decision on the adoption of the euro in Croatia in the 1st half of July this year, after the necessary procedures and discussions in the Eurogroup and in the European Council, and after the European Parliament gives its opinion.
Croatia joined the European Union on the1st of July 2013 and has been in exchange rate mechanism (ERM II) since the 10th of July 2020.
