Short description of the institution and main activities The Faculty of Forestry, University of Zagreb is the only higher education institution in the Republic of Croatia related to the field of forestry and wood technology. The main activities of the Faculty are the organization and conducting of university undergraduate, professional undergraduate, university graduate, postgraduate doctoral, and postgraduate specialist studies, as well as scientific research and professional work in the scientific field of biotechnological sciences, the scientific field of forestry, and the scientific field of wood technology. The Faculty is also registered for organizing and holding scientific and professional meetings, publishing scientific and professional publications, as well as for other forms of teaching, scientific and professional work, consulting in the field of forestry; urban forestry, nature and environment protection; wood technology and wood product design.

Research and Technical Capacities

Main research fields and areas of expertise The Faculty’s scientific research falls within the area of biotechnological sciences, the field of forestry, urban forestry nature conservation and environmental protection, and the field of wood technology.
Key equipment, laboratories, or infrastructure available to external partners the Faculty has accredited two laboratories. The Laboratory for Wood in Construction (LDG) of the Institute of Furniture and Wood Products is accredited based on the requirements of the standard HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2007 for the testing of wood floorings, wooden floor surface treatments, adhesives for wooden floors and selected physical properties of wood (Croatian Accreditation Agency Confirmation No. 1175).
