| Short description of the institution and main activities | Faculty of Medicine Osijek is a part of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Osijek, Croatia. It was established in 1979 as a branch of the Faculty of Medicine, Zagreb, and became an independent member of the University of Osijek in 1998. There are several study programs conducted at MEFOS: an integrated graduate study in medicine (for general practitioners), in Croatian and German, and Bachelor's and Master's degree study programs in Medical Laboratory Diagnostics. There are approximately 400 students enrolled in the graduate program of medicine, and overall 250 students in the undergraduate/graduate program of medical laboratory diagnostics. At the postgraduate level, there is a doctoral program in Biomedicine and Health, as well as several speciality programs with different residency requirements. MEFOS is closely linked with its teaching university hospital, Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek were clinical teaching and residency education are performed. Faculty of Medicine Osijek employs approx 100 scientists elected to scientific teaching positions, 96 of whom are involved in the scientific area of biomedicine and health. |
